Our staff have extensive experience in high speed craft design with an emphasis on practical skills gained from working directly with shipyards. We have international experience working to rules from a range of flag authorities from around the world, and with all of the major classification societies.
David Sherwood
Founder and director David Sherwood is a qualified naval architect with over 30 years’ experience in the shipbuilding industry in Australia and internationally.
David completed his Naval Architecture degree from the University of New South Wales in 1993, and began a diverse career in shipbuilding and design, from steel barges and coastal bulk carriers, to super yachts, fast ferries, and patrol boats.
After many years in design lead and management roles for some of the industry’s leading international companies, he founded Sherwood Marine in 2010 with the vision to bring these skills to the small craft market.
David’s passion for vessel design comes from a lifelong association with small craft and the sea. A top dinghy sailor as a youth, he represented Australia at World Championships at home and abroad, and continues to be involved in sailing.
